I don't really know why I have never blogged before, it is so easy. I'm looking forward to using this as my own website after this class so if anyone wants to keep in touch or read some stories that might not have been class appropriate at the time stay tuned.
I have been fortunate enough to be involved in something I love for the last 4 years. I started by becoming the, "manager" for my friends band at the ripe age of 17 and actually did surprisingly well for them. We were able to record at a major studio for almost nothing, played every major independent venue in the Cleveland area, released an EP and actually turned a profit selling some merch. While doing this, I was able to finagle an internship with the biggest venue we would play and was exposed to contracts, scheduling, promoting and most importantly, hanging posters and stocking dressing rooms. When my internship was through I maintained a working relationship with my boss and actually subbed for her while she went on vacations, which gave me contacts at both WMA and CAA. From here I went on to become a stagehand at the non-union live nation venues in the area and at the end of the summer, was shipped off to Full Sail where the real fun began.
